Kyle is a southern gospel musician. He has been singing, writing, playing, and producing numerous projects over the last decade. He attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in 2001, and spent time as the lead singer for a regional gospel quartet; he has recently returned to solo work. You can learn more about Kyle at his MySpace site, or you can contact him at wavemakersmedia2@gmail.com.
I don't think Steve is a tough singer...saw him at tulsa a few weeks ago and he wasn't strong at times. McCune is very weak as well...he's low but not a polished singer.
If singers would sing in more comfy ranges they wouldnt have that problem, istead we've always got to have the highest tenor and lowest bass in all of gospel music. On Mccunes part he would sound a lot sweeter and solid, if he wiped 2 or maybe even 3 notes of his agenda, im talking about he G's and A's. Focus on the pretty notes the C's and D's. Yeah i know there not that low, but there sweet. And yes i know that the A's and the G's were Tims bread and butter notes. So i guess they fill as tho Aaron has to fill the shoe's.
At the KWFC event, The local people were mixing the sound no GC'S sound man and the really makes a difference. Are you a singer as well? If not what, what qualifies you to make such statements? Also, why do you have to hide behind the anonymous name? If you are going to criticize someone then I believe you should do it face to face or with a name.
I was there at the Springfield event on the 18th. GC's soundman was running their sound. While we had already left before they did Midnight Cry, I did not hear one bad note from GC all night long. This is not the first time that I have heard/seen a poor quality video provide an untrue realization of what the sound/singing was really like. I wouldn't be so quick to say they were off key.
Secondly, I sing bass for my family group. I'm not sure if you are a singer or not. While I am no where near as low as Aaron is, singing bass makes me appreciate even more, the awesome talent that Aaron has been blessed with. What other 26 yr old can you name that can hit G's and A's as solid as Aaron can? Or can even hit them at all?.?. "Weak" should not be a word that is used when describing Aaron. I know for a fact that if he or any of GC thought that any of his lower notes did not sound that good, he would not be singing them. And that's another thing. Aaron can SING his low notes, not growl them.
Here is the bottom line....A 26 yr old was hired by the #1 Quartet in America to fill the shoes of Tim Riley, one of the greatest bass singers in history. That fact alone says enough for Aaron.
I dont think that Bruce is trying to decorate the song more than anyone prior to him. Out of all of the lead singers GCQT has ever had, he is BY FAR the most anointed, and I believe that his "decorating" is how he emotionally interprets what the Holy Spirit has laid on his heart. You should definately see the new lineup in concert- you will be pleasantly suprised.
Sorry to post as anonymous, but I don't have a google account and don't want one. Anyway, a correction needs to be made. Aaron was NOT hired to replace Tim Riley. He was hired to replace Bill Lawrence who was the person that replaced Tim Riley.
You are right. Aaron did come after Bill, who did a great job himself. But he is still filling the shoes of Tim Riley. It is very obvious, when people talk about Aaron, they compare him to Tim. With all do respect, you compared him to Tim yourself in your paragraph above.
Tim set a high standard of quality. And Aaron does a fantastic job of prividing that quality night after night.
It's ridiculous even to get in a debate over this. Everyone just needs to stop judging and putting people down. I am guilty of it as well as everyone else. We are called to encourage and pray for one another. And there is not a more important time to do that than right now!!
LOL You need to specify which anon. you are talking to! LOL. I am the one that mentioned Mike English... and I don't think I made fun of anyone in the GC band.... I WILL admit, the old GC(late '80's, early '90's) was better, and prolly the BEST SoGo group of all time, but the new group is indeed a force to be reckoned with as well.
Hi, I'm Tim Fultz, aka Hawkeye315 who recorded the video at the KWFC concert. In fact, Kyle Strickland, GC's sound technician, was running the sound. Watch my video of Get Up, Get Ready. When Steve goes into the crowd, I was following back and forth between the three on the stage and Steve, and at one point Kyle is visible. Most of the problems with the video's sound are a result of the camera, not the vocalists. The camera is just a still digital camera with video recording ability. Steve's tone was just fine to me, but he recently had a bad experience of acid reflux. At one point, his singing and talking time was limited to 90 minutes per day. He's doing much better. Aaron was very strong that night on the bass part, and the only memeber who was having any problems was Danny, who wasn't feeling well after the concert. On a few of my videos, just like any digital camera made for still pictures, it simply didn't pick Aaron's lower notes up well, notably his A2s to G1s, such as on When He Calls, I'll Fly Away. Another YouTube user told me he had the similar problem with Aaron's run starting after the second verse on If God Be For Us in which Aaron hit a solid A2, just as he did in the KWFC concert. Other than Tim, Aaron is the best bass singer who's come down the pike (my opinion) for being just 27, and he is my favorite not only for his singing, but his friendship. I've gotten to visit with him several occasions, and he has a very powerful voice. He is a very solid bass singer.
The styles of the 3 lead singers can't even be compared. Each one has his own technique and feels the song differently. No one is trying to out do anyone else. As for the new group....they are unbeatable. From Steve on the high notes (amazing)to Aaron on the low ones (he hits them with a solid tone) and everyone in between, they are unbelievable. The crowds that come have not gotten smaller at all.....and the crowd is definitely not OLD. I am the average age of the crowd....I'm 28....is that old to you?? Some of you don't realize how hard it is for these guys to leave their families night after night, sing their hearts out, and get what?? Criticized by someone that won't even be man enough to state their name. Don't judge them until you've been to a concert, felt the Holy Spirit move, and spoken to them afterwards. They are truely amazing men of God and should be held up in prayer and looked up to, rather than slandered on here. And thanks Ed for all you do for them.

It's like each singer feels obligated to decorate the song more than the last one.
is steve still having some vocal problems, he sounds flat on about the whole song? may just be the quality of video.

It was Tulsa that the promoter controlled the sound and the Springfield concert was audio & video from a Video Camera.
Also, if you are going to criticize a singer publicly, why are you not willing to identify yourself publicly?
Therefore to judge either concert the way Anonymous has is gutless.

The crowds are smaller and older in each video. I wonder it that says something for SG in general.
"most anointed"? How, pray tell would you know that?

I wouldn't say Bruce is trying to imitate ANYONE in GC history... rather he sounds to be imitating Michael English.... the style is VERY much Mike....
Anonymous, You must be a baritone cause they are the only ones you haven't railed upon or humiliated.

Anonymous, not sure how you're comparing crowd sizes ... the concert in Springfield had over 2500 people attending.
