And the Grammy goes to....

....the Gaither Vocal Band for Lovin' Life. This is slightly surprising to me, considering some of the reaction to the album. Fans seem almost split on the project; some love it, while other hate it, and I've yet to find an in-between crowd. Apparently, the RIAA comes down on the "love it" side.

I'm not surprised at all. The RIAA has never concerned itself with the opinions of the fans. All that matters is name recognition. Which of the other nominated entries had more star power? None.

They weren't competing against Randy Travis or Dolly Parton this year. Their biggest competition was Bart Millard, a CCM star who recorded a roots project...and Gaither is much bigger than Millard.

I wish they would release accompaniment tracks for it anyhow. :-) At least for When I Cry and Jesus And John Wayne. There might be others, I haven't listened to the whole project a lot or even for a while.

David, I don't think that Gaither was bigger than Millard even BEFORE Bill lost that weight. ;-)

I think the Grammy was well-deserved. I love this CD, and everyone I've heard talk about it loves it, too. And I've heard a lot of people talk about it! :D The variety in style alone is simply amazing!
